It was sweet serendipity, and our honor, to host a founder and the CEO of Biota Technology, Ajay Kshatriya, as Biota has, quite literally, pioneered the use of DNA sequencing in oilfield applications to help E&P operators maximize their reservoir economics.
This comes at a time when public market investors are demanding better capital discipline and efficiency from E&P companies, particularly after the oil price rollercoaster ride of the last several months. Founded in 2013, Biota has successfully transitioned from the proof-of-concept and commercialization phase of its corporate evolution and is now squarely in scale-up mode, as evidenced by the fact that it now serves a majority of top U.S. shale producers and is helping customers across asset types (unconventional, conventional onshore, offshore) better characterize their reservoirs and optimize their wells across the asset lifecycle.
A former venture capitalist with a biotech background (Genentech), Ajay's outsized intellectual bandwidth, which is matched only by his contagious passion for this new category of oilfield data, has us watching with enthusiasm for what Biota's next five years will have in store. Link to video.
